WDDB's line of pavilions haven't just enhanced the outdoor living experience, they've redefined it. Our clients have consistently commented that the pavilion is now the gathering place. A pavilion by definition is a wall-less structure with a traditional solid roof supported by columns. The pavilion provides shelter from the sun and rain while affording 360 degree views of the landscape. Our pavilions provide the creature comforts and innovations you'd find only in the main house. Chef's kitchen with bar island and cabinetry, bathroom, walk-in pantry, fireplace and entertainment system are some of the available options.
Reducing dependency on main house amenities, and allowing the pavilion to be a sustainable element inside the overall pool / landscape environment has always been our design intent . The open floor plan layout promotes flow and accessibility between spaces, allowing everyone to be part of the conversation.
Our custom designed pavilions can offer the following:
Along with our well-vetted trades and craftsmen, WDDB partners with the finest pool builders on Long Island to assist in executing our overall vision. Pools have always been an integral part of the Hamptons home outdoor experience. We only collaborate with reliable pool companies that have a proven track record for building and maintaining, durable, high quality pools and spas that stand the test of time.
We believe that nearly all the functions and amenities an indoor kitchen provides, an outdoor kitchen can provide as well. WDDB's outdoor kitchens capture the essence of the cooking and dining experience within the context of our well-planned gardens. Our outdoor kitchens can offer the following but are not limited to:
Well-designed plantings can offer functional and aesthetic value to any property. Property line evergreen plants, for example, can provide privacy from a neighboring house. However, a "layered" screening approach, utilizing the foreground, middle, and backgrounds, can be an even more effective approach in some applications where complete property line screening is not an option. Through trial and observation over the years, we have compiled a palette of plants that are as functional and hardy as they are beautiful, many of them deer resistant.
Landscape lighting provides safety and security during the nighttime hours. However, a well-designed lighting system can provide the needed safety and security, but also highlight certain aspects of the landscape. This integrated approach adds value and transforms the overall character of a property, giving it an almost mystical quality. Working closely with our technicians, we choose the appropriate lighting locations, and fixtures to subtly illuminate and enhance all active and passive outdoor spaces.
WDDB's ideal building materials for decks are ipe, mahogany, and teak, as their graining and durability are unparalleled. Our "blind fastening" techniques enhance the overall appearance of the deck by eliminating visible surface fasteners to create a safer, smoother finished surface. Decks can be stand alone, or covered by a Pergola. Similar to pavilions, pergolas provide 360 degree, unobstructed views of the landscape, and typically cover exterior dining, cooking, and living spaces. Unlike pavilions, pergolas have a latticed "airy" ceiling that allows filtered sunlight to pass through, embodying a more organic look and feel. Climbing plants such as Japanese wisteria, sweet summer clematis, and trumpet vine can add color and texture, and help to "soften" the structure when desired.
Our irrigation systems are designed to accommodate the watering needs of all turf areas, as well as the individual groupings of plants, assuring the landscape receives adequate water throughout the season. Our systems also have smart controllers with wireless capabilities allowing us to make remote adjustments based on changing weather conditions, rainfall, and temperatures. We thoughtfully choose the appropriate type of irrigation method, either overhead watering or drip irrigation to make the most effective and efficient use of water.
